Course

Undergraduate
IE 211 Scientific Management
This course aims to teach the concepts and techniques necessary for evaluating the cost and productivity of products or services. Its objective is to emphasize the importance of the economic aspects of industrial technology and to develop proficiency in economic evaluation. Key topics include analysis of economic operations, the time value of money, and evaluation methods required for facility investment and renewal.
IE 304 Human Factors
This course covers the fundamental theories and design processes related to human characteristics, performance, capabilities, and limitations (human capacity and limit functions) to enable the efficient design and management of total systems composed of humans, machines, and the environment. It also addresses relevant theories from psychology, biomechanics, physiology, and statistics that are essential for measurement, analysis, and evaluation as key approaches.
IE 427a Human Interface Design
This course focuses on understanding the basic concepts of product design and the product design process, along with learning the techniques required for product development. Students will explore various approaches and applications of conceptual design, and study procedures, methods, and analytical techniques for incorporating consumer needs and ergonomic considerations into the product development process. Additionally, the course covers the concept of emotional engineering in product design, which has been gaining increasing importance, along with real-world application cases.
Graduate
IE 533 Design and Evaluation of Human-Machine Interface
IE 514 Human Performance
This course applies human performance research to optimize human-machine interactive systems. It covers the efficient design of work methods and equipment, the establishment of information regarding human capabilities and limitations, and topics such as feedback and control, auditory and visual systems, signal detection theory, human information processing, mental workload analysis, motor control, and musculoskeletal stress.
